About

The U.S.N. flight deck jersey was issued to U.S. Navy deck workers aboard aircraft carriers, the deck jersey can be seen being worn in early photos in a range of different colours. The colour of the jerseys helped signify each workers roles. This simple colour coded system in the U.S. Navy is still active today.

White jersey wearing personnel are in charge of overseeing the health and safety on the flight deck.

Brown jersey flight deck personnel are air wing captains or air wing line leading petty officers who oversee the maintenance of individual aircraft.

Blue jersey personnel help move aircraft around the flight and hangar decks. These personnel are plane handlers, aircraft elevator operators, and flight deck low tractor drivers.
