U.S.N. BLUE WOOL JERSEY

The U.S.N. BLUE WOOL JERSEY, also known as the U.S.N. GOB Deck Sweater, is made from 100% durable 7-gauge wool knit. With its snug, close-to-body fit and tight mock turtleneck, it was designed to combat the coldest weather conditions during naval operations.

Standard issue for Navy personnel upon enlistment, this high-gauge wool jersey was commonly referred to in the 1940s simply as a “jersey.” It was worn as a close-fitting underlayer beneath the uniform, providing essential warmth without added bulk thanks to its fine-knit construction.
