Based on modern vintage U.S. Air Force Academy training gear, the HEAVYWEIGHT SWEATPANTS / USAFA REFLECTOR are made from 14 oz. high-density cotton sinker-knit fabric. They feature an inverted V-shaped reflective print at the knees, referencing second-generation designs once worn by cadets.
Reflective elements were first introduced into military training gear in the 1990s to increase visibility during early morning and night exercises. This development led to the updated Air Force Physical Training Uniform, made mandatory on October 1, 2006. The uniform included reflective piping, inverted chevrons, and moisture-wicking fabrics across jackets, pants, shirts, and shorts.
