The WHITE TROUSER UNIFORM BELT is a reproduction of the belt worn by US Navy personnel with Summer White and Tropical Utility Uniforms throughout the 20th Century.
A webbing belt with a roller style buckle features across all variations of the USN Utility uniform from WWII onwards. Cold weather blue utilities, commonly known as the dungaree uniform, called for a black belt, but for white uniforms worn through summer and in tropical climates a white belt was worn. Buckle color differs between ranks, with enlisted personnel wearing a silver-colored pewter buckle and those ranked Chief Petty Officer and above wearing a brass or gold anodized buckle.
Utility uniforms such as denim dungarees, tropical utilities, and the N-3 HBT uniform for ground units, were to be worn when completing activities which may soil a sailor’s uniform, such as equipment maintenance or construction, and were frequently worn when in combat quarters also.
The simple, roller-style buckle found on this belt means it can fit a wide range of waist sizes, thus reducing the number of different sizes needed to be produced. The cotton/nylon fabric, which was introduced in line with wider adoption of synthetic and blended fabrics post WWII, is lightweight but redoubtably enduring.
