Souvenir Jackets were sold through PX (Post Exchange) around the world. In Japan, the Yokosuka Base was most famous for selling souvenir jackets granting the Souvenir Jackets to be named ‘Suka-Jyan’ (abbreviation of Suka from Yokosuka, and Jyan-Japanese abbreviation of Jyanbaa meaning jumper in katakana Japanese). They also sold local souvenirs for bases like Guam and the Philippines that were made in Kiryu City of Japan. The hand-operated embroidery machines are a craft that was used for Japanese kimonos previously.
