The AVIATOR WHISTLE was issued to Commanders and Military Police during the Great War and RAF and USAAF pilots and aircrews during World War II. Also known as the "Ditch" Whistle, a name derived from its use by downed pilots in the ocean.
Manufactured by THE REAL McCOY’S MFG CO. these whistles are constructed from solid brass, achieving a brighter finish than the original nickel plated models.
The Aviator Whistle was commonly worn as an accessory by pilots, attached to the neck hook of the TYPE A-2 or on a necklace. Although there are many variations of the military whistle itself, we have reproduced the shape with a thicker tip that is most compatible with the A-2.
