The LOT. 001XX / LIGHT WASH is a five-pocket jean that follows a mid-1950s silhouette, a period when denim moved decisively beyond its origins as workwear and became everyday clothing, particularly among young people in postwar America. Often described as the golden age of denim, this era established the straight-leg profile with a gentle taper from waist to hem as the standard form, balancing practicality with a cleaner, more wearable shape.
While the popular appreciation of faded denim is often linked to the vintage boom of the 1990s, the appeal of worn-in indigo existed long before then. Even in earlier decades, fading was instinctively understood as part of denim’s character, earned through use and time. That long-standing relationship with wear is what continues to define denim’s place today.
The original 1950s models this jean is based on were made to fade slowly through prolonged wear. As with true vintage denim, heavily constructed fabrics reveal their depth best over years of use, rather than through artificial processing. For this reason, this version uses a carefully selected alternative denim, distinct from that used in the 001XX series. The fabric weight and structure differ intentionally, allowing it to respond more naturally to finishing while retaining an authentic appearance.
Following laser processing, the jeans undergo stone washing and hand-applied distressing to recreate the uneven fades and wear patterns seen in well-worn vintage examples. The result is a finish that reflects both the natural aging of original garments and the later 1990s rediscovery of distressed denim as a desirable expression of character.
