LOOPWHEEL SWEATSHIRT / SHAWNEE

The LOOPWHEEL SWEATSHIRT / SHAWNEE is made from 10oz loopwheel knitted cotton and features a brushed loopback French terry interior, offering greater warmth and softness compared to unbrushed fabric. Produced on vintage loopwheel machines in Wakayama, Japan, this tubular knit fabric is created at an incredibly slow pace - only about one meter per hour. It's this low-tension method that gives the fabric its distinctive structure, stretch, and washed-in character. The result is a texture and feel reminiscent of hand-woven garments and classic American sweatshirts from the mid-20th century, something only loopwheel machines, known locally as Tsuriami-ki, can achieve. These machines and the skills to run them are increasingly rare, making every piece uniquely crafted for The Real McCoy's.

This vintage-inspired college sweatshirt features a color airbrushed flock print on the front, a technique once popular on collegiate garments during the 1950s and 60s, accurately referencing the historical use of traditional Native American artwork throughout US sporting culture.
