The JOE MCCOY TEE / NORFOLK RECREATION tee has been made from 8 oz. cotton and features a classic 1950s boxy fit. The binder neck ensures the neckline holds its shape through repeated wear and washing. The NORFOLK RECREATION imagery is applied by hand at our Kobe headquarters using traditional manual techniques, achieving the authentic texture and feel of vintage t-shirts.

By the 1930s and 1940s, barbell clubs and boxing gyms were common throughout the United States. Strength training had grown out of the earlier physical culture movement, and many local clubs formed around weightlifting platforms, boxing rings, and small independent gyms. As these communities developed their own identities, clubs often produced simple printed shirts for members to wear during training sessions and local contests.
