Chinook is a small coastal community in Washington State, located near the mouth of the Columbia River where it meets the Pacific Ocean. Coastal towns, fishing ports, and roadside attractions often produced simple souvenir keepsakes for visitors passing through, like T-shirts and sweatshirts bearing the name of the town or a local landmark.
The waters off the coast of Chinook lie along the gray whale's migratory route, and the southbound migration each winter can occasionally be seen passing close to shore.
