8HU LEATHER WELDER JACKET

From 8HU, a mid-century protective workwear piece that’s efficacy means it is still used by some welders today. The heavy-weight, raglan-sleeved jacket is constructed from Split, unprocessed Cowhide and features a chin-strap and two-button flap patch pockets, details common in the earliest models.

Split leather is produced by feeding the hide through a splitting machine, which separates the lower hide layer from the top grain. Although the top grain layer is removed in this process, the remaining lower hide layer yields a tough, fibrous leather that is durable in situations involving fire and friction.
