About

The SWEATER, SERVICE, WOOL is a rib knitted, round neck jersey with shoulder and sleeve reinforcement patches. Constructed from a 7-gauge knit in 100% British wool.

Affectionately known as the “WOOLY PULLY” by servicemen, the iconic Commando Sweater was first developed by the British MOD during World War II for use by the SAS and Bomber Command. That version, with a traditional hock cord on collar was phased out by the 1970s for the JERSEY, MAN’S HEAVY, ROUND NECK and it was around this time that it was adopted by the U.S Marine Corp. The Wool Service sweater is now a standard military knitwear item used in many countries around the world.
