The buffalo check is considered the royalty of flannel shirts and has been used in workwear and hunting wear since the prewar period. Initially, most of these checks were based on black, but as outdoor wear became more responsive to fashion trends, buffalo checks in various color schemes appeared.

Due to the age of the looms used, buttonholes are often punctured, so special interlining reinforces the holes. The checks are smaller in mass size than previously released items to match the buffalo pattern of the 1950s. The yarn is dyed in two colors before twisting, giving it a contrasting color.
