With its beginnings in leather pilot helmet manufacturing, Buco was founded in 1933. Shortly after the war, the motorcycle industry experienced a boom. Noticing an opportunity to showcase their expertise in leather crafts, Buco began producing leather motorcycle jackets and helmets to meet this demand.

Buco’s expert craftsmanship and dedication to quality earned it a reputation as the standard for leather goods. Following the success as an emerging leather goods manufacturer, Buco would later release SAF-T-FLASH as an optional accessory and by 1948, BUCO offered jewel ornaments and nail head stud accessories which gave customers the opportunity to customise their leather jackets and accessories.

The evolution of leather crafts into fashion can be traced back to the 1930s and 40s, with Hollywood playing a pivotal role in this transition. Western film actors such as Roy Rogers and Gene Autry were instrumental in popularizing this style, often seen on screen with studded belts, gun holsters, and riders' saddles.
