BUCO COTTON CANVAS RIDING VEST

The BUCO COTTON CANVAS RIDING VEST is made from a cotton canvas shell and wool-alpaca lining. It includes two front pockets and a 1950s-style oval front zipper with a nickel finish for secure fastening.

This vest also features a curved, elongated back hem which is a distinctive design element originally seen in BUCO's 1950s rider's jackets. Drawing inspiration from The Real McCoy's USN Alpaca Vest, this version extends the body length slightly for improved fit, added coverage, and easy layering.

The design references the wartime alpaca vests worn by the US Navy during the Second World War. Made from cotton poplin shells with plush alpaca linings, these garments borrowed elements from the N-1 deck jacket. After returning from service, many veterans retained their cold-weather gear, and as surplus filtered into civilian life, riders embraced similar layering pieces beneath denim or leather jackets.
