The black BUCO DECK JACKET / RIDING TOGS is inspired by the A-2 Deck Jacket which was only issues in olive, khaki and navy, first introduced in the 1960s. Crafted from durable cotton cord cloth, it features an acrylic pile lining and fastens with a 1950s-style oval front zipper with a nickel finish. A BUCO embroidered patch with the iconic flying wheel has been sewn on to the left chest, while the back features a felt appliqué RIDING TOGS logo and flying wheel embroidery patch.
The A-2 Deck Jacket was introduced by the U.S. Navy in the 1960s as a modern successor to the earlier N-1 jacket. Designed for sailors working on open ship decks, it offered improved mobility, weather resistance, and comfort. Featuring a simplified silhouette, fold-down collar, and durable cotton shell, it replaced the heavier materials of its predecessor with more practical choices like acrylic pile lining and wool ribbing. A front zipper with a storm flap and knit cuffs ensured protection from wind and cold. Over time, its rugged construction and clean design made it a favorite among civilians, particularly motorcyclists and workers.
