Originally used for training wear within the U.S Navy in the 1950s, the USN N-1 Undershirt's heavy duty blend of wool and cotton was considered the perfect layer for colder climates. The thick bib-like patch over the chest and back constructed with 4 needle stitching is in order to improve the durability of the garment.
