About

The P-44 trousers, also known as the ‘Monkey Pants’, are most well-known and distinctive trousers within the USMC. It greatly differs from the previous P-41 model with the addition of large cargo pockets on both back and sides. The pockets on the sides were made large to fit k-ration boxes (military food rationing box) and the back pocket was to pack a camouflage poncho. With mulitiple pockets allowing a large amount of storage, to avoid the weight pulling a marines trousers down, reinforced holes were placed on belt band to fit P1941 suspenders.
