Before motorcycle jackets, double breasted leathers jackets were commonly referred to as ‘aviator style’ jackets due to the similar trait’s aviation jackets shared with them. Horsehide or Goatskin were most commonly used. Some leathers had embossed printing of other hide patterns which was frequently seen on leather jackets made in the west coast of America at the time.
